Tuna Fishing
Albacore Tuna
During August and September warm, clear blue water pushes north into the deep water canyons to the southwest of Tofino bringing with it an entire ecosystem that would typically be found in seas far to the south of Vancouver Island. Among the fishes are the Albacore Tuna.

Experience matters
With over 15 years of experience in the BC tuna fishery we strive to give our guests the best possible shot at a successful and enjoyable day. Our depth of knowledge in finding fish and analyzing sea and weather conditions drives our success rate. Our twin engine offshore vessels are a safe and comfortable platform for this exciting fishery.

Tuna day
We typically depart the Tofino resort and marina in at 6am, run time to the blue water varies but is usually 1:15 - 1:30 hours in decent to good conditions. As we approach our start point the water warms a few degrees and will start to look more like Mexico than BC. Around the canyon drop off we start to see significant action in the form of offshore birds, marine mammals, and sometimes jumper schools of Albacore Tuna!

Fishing
A fast troll with 8 or so lines in the water is status quo to maximize action, often resulting in multiple hookups and a busy deck! If conditions and fishing line up we can sometime hand hook tuna on jigs, this can be very productive and is the most entertaining way to hook up. All this makes for a great day and the northern Albacore taste great and can be prepared in a wide variety of ways; BBQ, smoked, canned, poke, sushi-mi. We love having it in our freezer!
