After three years aboard the "Rye Not" we have upgraded out primary vessel in order to remain on the leading edge of sport fishing vessels available on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The "Red Sky", a Pursuit 255 Offshore, the replacement for the discontinued 2570 line, offers a significant increase in interior space, and is equip with the best small vessel electronics available in 2013. The first thing returning guests will notice is the increase in size and comfort of the seats in this vessel. A larger displacement, twin 150HP Yamaha four strokes, a Lowrance electronics package complete with a 12 inch touch screen, structure scan side scanning sonar, and broadband Radar are a few of the other highlights of the "Red Sky". We are sure you will be pleased with this vessel. The "Rye Not" remains in the Tofino fleet and will be available as a second boat through Tofino Fish Guides.

April is a great month to get out on the water and experience what the west coast of the Island has to offer. Chinook (Springs or Kings) Salmon are presently feeding in the inshore and offshore waters near Tofino. Early season salmon are some of the tastiest of the year as the fish consume plenty of krill throughout the winter and spring. Chinook salmon are a blast to catch and there is a good chance of picking up a halibut as we troll the bottom.

Halibut have reopened for the season however we do face a few changes in the halibut regulations coast wide in BC. As far as our anglers are concerned these regulations will have minimal impact on our day to day charter fishery. The Canadian government has implemented a new maximum size limit of 126cm, approximately 60 pounds to more evenly distribute the sports fishery's catch in order to keep within management limits while insuring that halibut remain open all season. Additional spring opportunities for Dungeness crab and spot prawns are available. Both fisheries are in calm water and are great for the whole family.
